The main focus of this release is to polish the overall look and feel of the map. This is the last version of the map that reflects service that became effective in September 2015.

Changes

  • change Link Red Line to Link Light Rail as that designation is not yet in use and update opening date to March 19.
  • further clarified RapidRide payment
  • Add peak-only Rt 201 in Mercer Island.
  • revised neighborhood labels based on City Clerk’s atlas and Urban Villages
  • reserve space for FSC/recycled paper logo
  • reserve space for possible print sponsors in addition to SDOT
  • increase contrast of county lines on Regional Map
  • flush text in Special Services section to the left
  • add TTY telephone numbers for agency customer service
  • add express stops and line to commuter routes

Items to Consider & Do for Next Version

  • ensure sufficient clear space near edge of map for trimming
  • Replace downtown commuter service table with map
  • darken background color to improve visibility of white cross street lines (dependent on printer results)
  • Show more downtown bus stops and/or explain downtown skip stop system.
  • Reformulate colors for improved low-light contrast and color-blind friendliness.
  • Improve traceability of freeway routes.
  • Add an FAQ section to the website to explain design decisions.

The main focus of this release is the downtown map and polishes to other maps.

Changes

  • Added through-routing information to main map and downtown inset.
  • Expanded downtown map to fill back cover margins.
  • Rescaled downtown map route lines to make room for more features.
  • Mark tunnel station entrances on downtown map.
  • Clarify Rts 16 and 66 routing and terminal downtown.
  • Picked a single color to represent DART/flexible service area and revised legend.
  • Addresed I-5 gap downtown where Rts 304, 305, CT 400s run and added routing via Cherry St I-5 Express lanes access.
  • Revised styling of URLs from semibold text to italics.
  • Add information about Accessible Services and how to use DART.
  • Night Owl hours of service revised to “1:30 to 4:30 am” per Metro public timetable.
  • Adjusted columns on back side to better line up with folds.
  • Replaced view other system maps note with note on Regional map indicating “additional fare may apply for travel outside city limits”.
  • Show Pike/Pine route lines over I-5 instead of under.
  • Repositioned text labels and icons after a change in font.
  • Added Ballard-Magnolia walking route via Locks.
  • Revise “West Valley” node to “Kent Boeing” on Regional Map, among many revisions to the map.
  • Revise Fremont label for E Line on Regional map to “North Fremont”.
  • Repositioned continuation labels.
  • Corrected several street name labels on citywide map and insets (thanks Benjamin Lukoff for marking it all up).
  • Corrected location of Safeco Field to south of Royal Brougham.
  • Minor linework tweaks to reduce crisscrossing lines.
  • Removed inset boundaries on citywide map and reinstated line merges.
  • Use different colors and line weights on Night Owl map to indicate level of owl service.
  • Introduce new symbols for Owl and Night service. Add Regional T mark.
  • Corrected frequency and span of Lines C, D, 67.

Items to Consider & Do for Next Version

  • Show more downtown bus stops and/or explain downtown skip stop system.
  • Peak-only Rt 201 in Mercer Island is missing.
  • Inconsistent spacing between route lines due to earlier change in how regular routes combine for frequent service.
  • Reformulate colors for improved low-light contrast and color-blind friendliness.
  • Improve traceability of freeway routes.

  • Add Rt 99 to Downtown Commuter Service Where to Board table and downtown area on citywide map.
  • Rephrase explanation of through routing.
  • Indicate Rt 424 serving SR 520 freeway stations.
  • Correct anomaly that showed Rt 10 serving Madison St.
  • Remove route numbers on 3 Av downtown. Add route numbers to streets feeding 3 Av.
  • Direction of Rt 7 Rainier Beach loop reversed.
  • Greyhound label on Downtown inset map fixed.

Known Issues

  • GPS locator is not restricted to Seattle area and there is no way to go “home” without reloading page
